Malaysian LED Manufacturer Loses RM5.84 Million Order

A Malaysian LED lamp manufacturer lost an order worth RM5.84 million due to failing to apply for the “Made in Malaysia” (Buatan Malaysia) certification. Without this label, their products were mistaken for repackaged foreign goods, leading to export restrictions.

The manufacturer, which operates in an industrial area and has Standards and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM) certification, was unable to proceed with the deal because import regulations required proof of local manufacturing.

The company has since submitted the necessary documents for approval but warns that such issues can cause significant financial losses for businesses. The article emphasizes the importance of proper certification and urges authorities to streamline the process for local manufacturers.
